Ariels was formed as Victorian Churches Netball Association in 1930 and is one of the oldest netball associations in Australia. Over the past eight decades the club has continued to grow and promote the sport of netball, particularly in Melbourne’s eastern region.

The association is committed to providing support and opportunities to players, recognising and nurturing leadership and good sportsmanship and offering a pathway to higher levels of competition to allow players, coaches and umpires to reach their full potential.

In 2008 the club was successful in gaining one of 10 licences statewide for the new elite Victorian Netball League competition. The club was restructured to provide opportunities for other local associations to join our pathway. Our structure now consists of:

Ariels  – Victorian Netball League

  • Championship division team
  • Division 1 team
  • 19 and Under team
  • Squad teams – 19u and Divison 1

sponsored by: Yarra Valley Grammar

Ariels VCNA Jets

The Ariels Jets high performance program is open to netballers from ALL associations and is a pathway into our  “Ariels” Victorian Netball League teams. This program consists of:

  • Two VNL development teams – Jets Senior (a mixture of Open & 17u aged players) and Jets Junior (17u aged players)
  • One 17/U team

Ariels VCNA

  • Three Open teams – Open Prem, Open 1 and 2
  • Two 17/U teams
  • Five 15/U teams
  • Four 13/U teams
  • Two 11/U teams

Ariels VCNA is different to many representative associations in that we deliberately cast our net wide and have as many teams as possible to give the maximum number of players the opportunity to play representative netball.
